Why is my webcam showing a black image?
Usually another application is holding the camera, or a physical privacy shutter or a laptop camera switch is closed. Close other video apps, check the shutter, then reload the page and allow the camera prompt.
Why does my camera look grainy or blurry?
Webcams need far more light than your eyes do, so most grain is simply a dark room. Blur is usually a fingerprint or dust on the lens, or a fixed-focus camera being used too close. Try a light source in front of you rather than behind you.
Does this test record or upload video?
No. The picture is shown live in your own browser and nothing is recorded, saved or transmitted. The camera light goes out as soon as you close the page.
