Microphone Test
Test whether your microphone works in the browser, view live input level, and check permission, device selection, and basic recording response before a call or stream.
With your permission, the browser reads the selected audio input and visualizes live signal level and basic device information. Choose the intended microphone, allow access only for this test, speak at a normal distance, and watch for a stable response without constant clipping.
What does this test measure?
With your permission, the browser reads the selected audio input and visualizes live signal level and basic device information.
Why is this test important?
Test whether your microphone works in the browser, view live input level, and check permission, device selection, and basic recording response before a call or stream.
How do you run the test?
Choose the intended microphone, allow access only for this test, speak at a normal distance, and watch for a stable response without constant clipping.
How should results be interpreted?
No movement can mean muted hardware, the wrong input, denied permission, or an operating-system setting. Constant maximum level can indicate clipping or excessive gain.
Normal and problematic results
No movement can mean muted hardware, the wrong input, denied permission, or an operating-system setting. Constant maximum level can indicate clipping or excessive gain.
Technical limitations
The tool cannot certify studio quality, diagnose a damaged capsule, or access the microphone without your explicit browser permission.
Why can the score decrease?
Unstable measurements, denied permissions, unsupported browser APIs, background load, power saving, or an incomplete test can affect the result. When a score changes, the result screen explains the reason.
What should you do if a problem is found?
Check mute switches, input selection, operating-system privacy permissions, gain, cable or USB port, and another application.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does the page say it cannot hear my microphone?
Most often the browser permission was declined, or the operating system has handed the microphone to another application such as a meeting app. Close other programs that use audio, then allow the microphone prompt and start the test again.
Why does my voice sound quiet, distant or distorted?
A low level usually points to input gain in the system sound settings, while distortion normally means the gain is too high or a microphone boost is enabled. Watch the live level meter while you speak and adjust until normal speech stays below the top of the scale.
Is my audio recorded or uploaded anywhere?
No. The microphone stream is processed inside your browser to draw the level meter and is never sent to a server or stored. Closing the page ends the capture.
