Gamepad and Controller Test

Test Xbox, PlayStation, and compatible game controllers in the browser, including buttons, triggers, analog axes, and vibration when supported.

The Gamepad API reports connected controllers, button states, analog-axis values, and vibration capability supported by the browser and device. Connect the controller, press a button to activate it, move every stick and trigger through its range, and test vibration only when offered.

What does this test measure?

The Gamepad API reports connected controllers, button states, analog-axis values, and vibration capability supported by the browser and device.

☆

Why is this test important?

Test Xbox, PlayStation, and compatible game controllers in the browser, including buttons, triggers, analog axes, and vibration when supported.

▻

How do you run the test?

Connect the controller, press a button to activate it, move every stick and trigger through its range, and test vibration only when offered.

▥

How should results be interpreted?

Axis drift near the center, missing buttons, or a limited range may indicate calibration, mapping, connection, browser, or hardware issues.

☑

Normal and problematic results

Axis drift near the center, missing buttons, or a limited range may indicate calibration, mapping, connection, browser, or hardware issues.

△

Technical limitations

Browser and operating-system mappings differ; wireless latency, firmware diagnostics, battery condition, and every vibration mode cannot be certified.

↘

Why can the score decrease?

Unstable measurements, denied permissions, unsupported browser APIs, background load, power saving, or an incomplete test can affect the result. When a score changes, the result screen explains the reason.

⌕

What should you do if a problem is found?

Reconnect or re-pair, update trusted drivers or firmware, recalibrate in the operating system, and compare USB and wireless modes.

Example Result Explanation

✓ GoodA stable, repeatable result in the expected range. A clear and consistent experience is expected.
△ AttentionSome indicators should be checked again. Reduce background activity and repeat the test under the same conditions.
× ProblemA repeated clear failure or instability means the relevant setting, connection, or device needs closer review.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is my controller not detected?

Browsers only reveal a gamepad after it sends input, so press a button or move a stick once the page is open. A wired connection rules out pairing problems, and a controller already claimed by a game or a launcher will not appear here.

What is stick drift and how do I confirm it?

Stick drift is movement reported while you are not touching the stick. Let go of both sticks and watch the position readout: if it will not settle at centre, the stick is drifting. A small resting offset is normal, continuous movement is not.

Do PlayStation and Xbox controllers both work?

Yes. Both are recognised over USB and over Bluetooth once paired with the operating system. Button numbering differs between them, so the labels shown may not match the symbols printed on your controller.
