Green Pixel Test

Use a full-screen green field to inspect green subpixels, color consistency, flickering points, and pixels that fail to reproduce green correctly.

The solid green reference increases the visibility of dark, discolored, or unstable pixel points and broad green-channel irregularities. View the full-screen pattern at native resolution, scan the display in a slow grid, and compare suspicious spots with the red and blue tests.

What does this test measure?

The solid green reference increases the visibility of dark, discolored, or unstable pixel points and broad green-channel irregularities.

☆

Why is this test important?

Use a full-screen green field to inspect green subpixels, color consistency, flickering points, and pixels that fail to reproduce green correctly.

▻

How do you run the test?

View the full-screen pattern at native resolution, scan the display in a slow grid, and compare suspicious spots with the red and blue tests.

▥

How should results be interpreted?

A persistent dot with a different color or brightness can indicate a stuck or inactive subpixel, while broad patches may relate to uniformity or viewing angle.

☑

Normal and problematic results

A persistent dot with a different color or brightness can indicate a stuck or inactive subpixel, while broad patches may relate to uniformity or viewing angle.

△

Technical limitations

Visual confirmation depends on eyesight, ambient light, scaling, panel technology, and image processing; it is not an automated defect certificate.

↘

Why can the score decrease?

Unstable measurements, denied permissions, unsupported browser APIs, background load, power saving, or an incomplete test can affect the result. When a score changes, the result screen explains the reason.

⌕

What should you do if a problem is found?

Retest under neutral lighting and another input source before using the monitor maker's support or warranty process.

Example Result Explanation

✓ GoodA stable, repeatable result in the expected range. A clear and consistent experience is expected.
△ AttentionSome indicators should be checked again. Reduce background activity and repeat the test under the same conditions.
× ProblemA repeated clear failure or instability means the relevant setting, connection, or device needs closer review.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is green considered the most revealing colour?

Human vision is most sensitive to green, and the green subpixel contributes the largest share of perceived brightness. A fault in the green element is therefore the easiest of the three to see and the most noticeable in everyday use.

A single bright green dot stays on a black screen. What is that?

That is a stuck subpixel: the green element is locked on while the pixel should be dark. Unlike a dead pixel it is still receiving power, so it occasionally recovers after a colour-cycling pattern runs for a while.

Should I look at green from close up or far away?

Both. Close inspection finds single pixels, and stepping back shows patches and clouding that disappear when your eye is too near the panel.
